Lot Current A Chrome extension for dealership salespeople

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about Lot Current: whether it is allowed on Facebook, what it reads, where your data is, and why you click Publish, never the tool.

Questions and answers

Is this allowed on Facebook?

Here is the honest answer. Meta's Terms prohibit accessing its products by automated means without permission. Lot Current fills in the form and opens pages; a person checks every listing and clicks Publish, and nothing is posted or edited in the background or while you're away. That is the safest design available. It is not a guarantee, and no tool can honestly promise one. Facebook's rules apply to you when you post. If Facebook ever warns you about your listings, stop and tell your manager.

Does it post for me?

No. Lot Current never clicks Publish, Update, Delete or Mark as sold. It fills in the Marketplace form and opens the right page; you check it and click Publish yourself, every time. There is no code for clicking those buttons, and a test that fails if any appears.

What does it read?

Your dealership's public website: the used inventory, the store's name and address, and one car's full record at post time. On the Marketplace create-listing page it reads back the fields it filled so it can tell you what the form shows. It does not read your Facebook messages, cookies or password, and it does not track your browsing anywhere else.

Where is my data?

In your own browser, in Chrome's storage. Your scans, settings and list of posts are kept on your computer, and your name, role and listing defaults follow your Chrome sign-in. Nothing from Facebook is kept beyond the listing links you save. When your dealership uses Lot Current accounts (not open yet), your posted list, post timings, to-do items and scan counts also sync to its records, where your manager sees them; the privacy policy says what is kept and for how long.

What about my Facebook password?

Lot Current never asks for it, never reads your cookies or tokens, and never runs extra or shared accounts. You sign in to Facebook yourself, in your own browser, and Lot Current never sees that.

Which websites work?

Dealership websites on Dealer Inspire today. Lot Current also tries websites that publish standard vehicle data for search engines, but that reader has been tested only on sample websites, so no other platform is known to work yet. Other website platforms are added one at a time, based on demand. Ask us about yours.

How do updates arrive?

Today Lot Current installs as a file you unzip into a folder and load in Chrome; an update is a new file you unzip over the same folder, and your settings and listings stay put. A Chrome Web Store listing is planned, after which Chrome installs updates the way it does for any extension.
